Lincolns 4 Lincoln
Through innovative programming, Compass for Kids provides resources and support services for the underserved youth in Springfield Public Schools – District 186. Our programs focus on the students’ social-emotional growth and academic success so that they feel empowered to reach their full potential. We provide school year and summer programs, Club Compass and Camp Compass, respectively, to open doors and opportunities for kids who need it most to close both the achievement and opportunity gaps.
Spread Lincoln’s love of reading and donate a book from the wish list of Compass for Kids students! It’s amazing what can happen when you give a kid a book they choose: they discover their passion for reading!
There are three ways you can support the students of Compass for Kids:
1) Visit Barnes & Noble in Springfield, IL, and pick up a Lincolns 4 Lincoln “If You Give a Kid a Book” tag or book from the display to purchase. If you can’t make it to the store, you can call them at (217) 546-9440 to reserve a book to donate!
2) Purchase a Barnes & Noble gift card and we’ll purchase a book for a Compass for Kids student on your behalf! You can purchase gift cards in-store (at the Springfield, IL location) or online. If purchasing online, please email the gift card to enrichment@compassforkids.org.
3) Attend the Lincolns 4 Lincoln Literary Jamboree event on February 8th at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and drop off a book (or two!) of your choice at the Compass for Kids table!
